Example: Pyloric Junction

Here you see the pyloric junction, the transition point between the stomach (S) and the intestine (I).

The very large and open gastric pits are characteristic of this part of the stomach. The epithelium of the duodenum (the first part of the intestine) contains goblet cells, that of the stomach does not. There are pyloric glands (G) visible in the lamina propria of the stomach section.
