Camillo Golgi
An Italian neurologist and histologist, Golgi's classical structural studies
of the nervous system, done in the late 19th century, are still cited today,
and in addition he pioneered the development of many new techniques still
used in this sort of study. Golgi was one of the truly great figures of
19th century science, and in recognition of his work he was named a Nobel
Laureate in Physiology and Medicine in 1906.
