Omasum Detail

Author: Dr. Thomas Caceci
Here's our imaginary rod, passed through the omasal fold. The submucosal space is easily visible; the delicate CT in it isn't at this magnification.

The muscularis mucosae is continuous at the tip of the fold; that is, it runs up to the top and rounds the turn and comes back down again. The submucosa is also continuous, separating the tunica muscularis from the muscularis mucosae along the latter's entire length.

Bovine omasum; H&E stain, paraffin section, 200x
